Calling this place an aquarium is like calling a shopping mall a store. While you can see a resemblance to an aquarium, this is just a primarily indoor rainforest zoo. It was well worth the money. The variety of animals and the available information about the animals was good. The information was available on touchscreen devices that were located next to each habitat. The quality and variety of the exhibits warrants a 6 star rating... Unfortunately, the state of the facility loses 2 stars. The day we were there was rainy. The building leaked. It leaked in many spots. A few exhibits were empty for repairs etc., not unexpected in such a facility, which means that it does not lose anything for that. However, one exhibit was being actively welded while they were operating. While the safety concerns of that will elude most people, the big issue was that it had set off the fire alarm. The sound had been silenced, but the flashers were flashing the whole time that we were there. It was annoying. It gave my mother a headache. The employees were complaining about the flashing. Everyone was annoyed. Though we did not use any elevators, one of the elevators was not functioning for some reason. Some repairs need to be performed on the facility.

I'm not really one for animals in captivity for human entertainment. That being said, this place is set up well and the animals have space. I did feel horribly for the river otters....they were barking and displaying territorial behaviors and were highly stressed. The black panther appeared to have very little space for an animal this size, you could see his pace patterns. I'm hoping he has a bigger enclosure I couldn't see. I felt the sloths may have needed a little more space or hiding areas. They appeared stressed too. I felt similarly, I do not enjoy huge presses of humans either. Other than these things, this was a fascinating place. The restaurants had reasonable pricing and the gift shop as well. I ended up getting an awesome passenger sticker in the shape of a sloth peering out of the car window. Entertaining. My favorite creatures were the shoe bill stork, manatee, anaconda and the saw fish.

On a more positive note, we got some good pictures. I posted those to google.

Visited here from our if town at a friends suggestion. We had a great time, the way it is set up you start at the top of the ecosystem in the trees and circle down to the bottom of the water. Although it is advertised as an aquarium it has so much more to see, birds, monkeys and my favorite was the sloths. They have a 3 toward sloth that is out in the open where you can see it without glass.

This aquarium is definitely very elaborate and has many different animals which was so neat! However, we went on a Saturday and it was so busy we couldn’t really enjoy it. We had to walk in a line several times just to get to the next part, which I’ve never done at a venue like this. I’d like to go back on a weekday when it’s hopefully not as busy. We like to take our time and see all the animals and we couldn’t do that. That being said, it seems to have so many hidden gems and elaborate enclosures. I loved the way it’s setup as almost its own ecosystem. It really feels immersive and interactive.

I was there this weekend, this place was AMAZING! My family enjoyed, we had so much fun. There's so many different animals to see. Luis Hercules a worker from the aquarium was so helpful and courteous! He was a very nice guy, he explained to our family how the tour was going to start, and later on he helped us find the penguins. Very friendly gentlemen. I would definitely recommend anyone to take your family for a fun time at the Dallas Aquarium!!!!

Here are a bunch of pictures that will say a lot more.

We also ate at the restaurant at the 3rd floor right off the elevator and it was wonderful, low prices, great service. The taco salad was great.
