These government employees saved our vacation! We made the disastrous discovery that one of us had an expired passport the night before our next day international flight at 1:00pm. We were at the office at 7:50am (earliest security will let you line up) and we are at our terminal at DFW right now with hours to spare. We couldn't be more grateful and impressed. I read all of the positive reviews but was still skeptical walking in because I thought my situation was beyond repair. My passport has been in limbo in New Hampshire because they're behind in their mailroom. I am leaving the country in 3 days and after waiting 4 weeks my passport still hadn't arrived.
Other than that this place was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and efficient!
What a great customer service. I had an international travel coming in 4 weeks so needed a passport/visa before my travel. I set up an appointment with this agency online for 8:00AM. I showed up around 7:30AM but the door was locked. Security person told me to come back around 7:50AM. He also told the other people who were there for a walk-ins to come back at 11:30AM. Apparently if you are not traveling on the same day, walk-ins will only be seen at 11:30AM but the call center people told them to go to the agency as early as possible, so there was some confusion. I came back at 7:50 for my 8 am appointment, they guided me to the first window to verify my paperwork and asked me to wait. Around 8AM I was called to another window to process the application. The person processed my application was super courteous and very helpful with all my questions. Since I am from out of town she told the earliest I can get the passport by mail is Saturday which is three days after my appointment. I agreed and paid the fees and walked out of the agency around 8:05AM. I also received the passport on Saturday. If you need passport immediately, this is the place to go to.
I'll spare you the details but I arrived today stressed and anxious and left calm and optimistic. Just got the follow-up call that my passport will be ready to pick up in about 48 hours thanks to the amazing, helpful group of people that work here.
They expedited my passport so quickly, I am thrilled. They were informative and kind and I really appreciate all of their help.
One note though is that when you are trying to come to the Passport Agency as a walk-in the telephone operators will tell you to show up as early as possible but that is not the case. The security guard at the front will have you come back at 11:30 because that is when they see people without appointments.
So very grateful for the courteous and FAST service I received here. The greeter was very clear in what was needed before entering the waiting area and the necessary forms and pens were readily available. The clerk was very helpful in outlining delivery dates/expectations, etc. and pointed out an error on my temporary TX driver's license. Kudos to whomever is responsible for the work culture here - it is a breath of fresh air to this new Texas resident.
