We finally got up around 10:05pm. But we were asked to "stand in line and wait for elevator down" at 10:15pm. The also locked the outside observation deck, shortening our visit down to 10 minutes.
Well worth the visit! It's not right in the downtown so you get great views of downtown itself as well as surroundings for miles. The views from the tower are amazing. There's shops, restaurants in the tower, including some at the top.
Unsatisfied with my visit was not everything I encountered. I don't know when they changed their business hours, but it took at least two weeks for Reunion Tower to update their hours on Google Maps and their automatic phone information system, after my visit.
And what's even more, I was quite happy when I was able to reach out to a manager to discuss about this issue. Greg offered me his number in the e-mail and asked me to call him, but nobody was answering the phone during regular business hours multiple times. I also left a message stated my identity and situation. I never heard back.
Before I go, I checked the opening hours in the morning. Google Maps said the the place closes at 10:30pm that day. I trusted the information given this place on Google Maps has been claimed by the business owner. I also double-checked the opening hours by calling them. The automatic information system said the last elevator up was 10:30pm, which confirmed the closing hours.
As a tour guide of my friends, I decided to take them to Reunion Tower at in the evening so we can enjoy some night view of the city. I personally been to Reunion Tower in the daytime, and I would say it is a perfect place for it.
We arrived at 9:45pm that night. But as soon as we arrived, we were told that the tower will close at 10:30pm instead and everyone has to leave at that time. Considering the current time, with only a few tourists ahead of us, we think we still get around 20 minutes or so. So we purchased the tickets and took the elevator up.
This comment is not about the scenery, but the professionalism of the staff at Reunion Tower.
Really an amazing place to visit. You can see the whole city from up there through a panoramic view. Truly a great landmark of Dallas.
The best place to get sweeping views over the city of Dallas is from the observation deck at Reunion Tower. I highly recommend getting a discounted day/night pass in order that you can catch both daylight views and the city after dark.
My top tip is to visit during the week when prices are discounted.
TL;DR: Tower closes earlier than expected, took them a long time to update their new business hours, not able to hear back from manager.
This is definitely a must-see. It's not necessary to repeat a trip here, but you do need to see it once. The food is decent and everything is fairly expensive as apropos of any tourist attraction. Views are really very good of the iconic Dallas skyline, so be sure to take a good camera.
