This place has an absolutely fabulous owner and leader who made my experiences wonderful. The atmosphere was authentic and the hookah was world class. I hope that anyone that visits Dallas not only visits, but frequently visits this establishment.
My partner and I went to Zatar for the Halloween party, cocktails and hookah mixed with facin dancing! Drinks are interesting and original, while food looked good (we didn't order any food) the hookah was quite good! I think this is a great hookah place for Deep Ellum.
The food is great, but I don't think its a good bang for the buck. Slightly overpriced. It's got a good ambience and great service.
We've been to Zatar a couple times and have enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. It's a fun spot for a date night. I've seen groups enjoying the hookah on the patio side, but haven't tried it myself. Like all Deep Ellum restaurants, allow time to find parking, though there are large lots nearby, so if you can't find a meter, you won't have to walk too far.
Well the ambience is great but unfortunately for a barely busy restaurant the service was pretty slow. We didn't receive any napkins. The chicken on my friends tacos were very dry, they had to drink water to swallow them. I love falafel but mine was fried so "well" that it hurt my gums to chew it. I had high hopes for this place but I'm so disappointed. The waitress admittedly forgot to bring us utensils.
